How do you make drip coffee to achieve an optimal taste experience? Take a look at our simple recipe below!
Water
The starting point is that water at approximately 96 degrees Celsius is poured over ground coffee sitting in a filter. By pouring the hot water over the coffee and letting it drip through the filter, the flavor and aroma are extracted from the coffee beans to form a tasty cup of coffee.
Coffee amount
Use about 1-2 tablespoons (7-14 grams) of coffee per 180-240 ml of water. This yields a medium-dark to strong cup of coffee.
Grind size
The grind size of the coffee grounds is generally coarser than for brewing espresso or moka. It serves the same function as for those, in that the grind size affects the brewing time of the coffee and needs to be adjusted according to the size of the brewer.
Brewing time
The contact time between coffee grounds and water is normally 5–7 minutes for drip coffee, compared to espresso which is around 25 seconds. Another difference is that the extraction of drip coffee takes place without pressure.
