In a hectic everyday life where time is a valuable resource, smooth and efficient coffee brewing is a priority for many. The French press offers a solution that combines simplicity and speed without compromising the quality of the coffee. It is a method that has existed for centuries and is still appreciated for its ability to deliver a tasty cup of coffee with minimal effort.

How to use a French press

Start by gently pouring hot water over the coffee you have placed in your French press. Then, let it sit for four minutes before slowly pressing the coffee filter down to the bottom of the press—now the coffee is ready to be served!

It is important to note that French press filters are made of metal rather than paper. This means that more of the coffee's natural oils are preserved in the brew. This can be an advantage for certain coffee lovers who appreciate a richer and more oily coffee flavor, while others prefer a cleaner flavor profile.

However, it is worth keeping in mind that the coffee can develop a bitter taste because the coffee grounds remain in contact with the coffee. If you do not plan on drinking the whole pot right away, it is recommended that you pour the finished coffee into a thermos or another container to avoid it becoming over-extracted and bitter.

Brewing French press coffee – Step by step

Boiling press coffee is a timeless and beloved method of brewing coffee. Here we describe how you can easily and conveniently brew boiled coffee – step by step.

  1. Start by grinding your coffee beans with a coffee grinder, or use pre-ground coffee.
  2. Measure out the desired amount of coffee depending on your personal taste and the number of cups you want to make. A common guideline is approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per 200 ml of water.
  3. Boil water and then let it cool slightly for about 30 seconds to a temperature of approximately 90-96 degrees. This is the optimal temperature for brewing coffee without it becoming over-extracted or burnt.
  4. First, pour half of the hot water over the coffee and stir. Then, pour in the remaining part of the water.
  5. Put the lid on your French press and let the coffee brew for about 4 minutes. During this time, the coffee will develop its flavor.
  6. After 4 minutes, put the plunger back into the pot and slowly press the filter down to the bottom. This separates the coffee grounds and completes the brewing process.
  7. Now your press coffee is ready to serve! You can enjoy it directly from the French press or pour it into cups or a thermos to keep it warm.
