Om Faustino 3.1 Black
The Faustino 3.1 from Rocket Espresso is a robust espresso grinder that closely follows in the footsteps of its big brother, Fausto. Its compact design does not compromise efficiency, and especially not quietness; the rest of the household barely wakes up when the Faustino grinds (something most coffee lovers with families have probably struggled with for a long time…).
This direct-grinding coffee grinder now features 3 programmable settings and the option for manually controlled dosing. Programs and time settings are selected and adjusted on the elegant touch panel. The display is easy to use: press firmly on single, double, triple, or manual to activate the screen and start grinding. If the screen is already active, only a light touch is needed. Micrometer adjustment via the knob on top ensures perfect grind consistency.
The bean hopper has a capacity of 320 grams, which is very suitable for the coffee lover who barely has time to get home with a new bag of coffee before it's gone. The bean hopper can be attached to the grinder with an Allen key. The powerful 210 W motor allows the Faustino 3.1 to grind approximately 1 gram of coffee per second. This is a difference from the Fausto, which has a 500 W motor, meaning the Faustino grinds at a slower speed.
The Faustino's sleek and clean design looks great next to any size semi-professional espresso machine, thanks to the Faustino's slightly smaller footprint. Compared to its big brother Fausto, the Faustino might be a better fit for somewhat more minimalist and smaller semi-professional coffee machines, as well as home machines. However, there's nothing to stop you from pairing the Faustino with a larger machine like an R60V; after all, it can look really cool to break up the style a bit.
The input of espresso beans on the Faustino 3.1 is adjusted with a flat plate that can be easily pulled away from or towards the grinder. If you want to remove the bean hopper from the Faustino but there are still espresso beans inside, you can push the flat plate so that it covers the entire opening and then twist the bean hopper upwards. This can be beneficial if you want to clean the grinder or suspect a problem in the grinding mechanism. To clean the Faustino, the bean hopper should be removed and a dose of Pulygrind should be poured into the grinding mechanism. Then, the bean hopper is put back in place. Grind out the Pulygrind crystals along with coffee until no more crystals come out of the grinder; a couple of portions are usually required.
Rocket Espresso's Faustino 3.1 is equipped with 50-millimeter hardened steel flat burrs. This is one of the major differences from its big brother Fausto, whose burrs have a circumference of 65 millimeters. This difference primarily results in a slightly longer grinding time for the younger sibling Faustino and slightly less uniformity in the grind.
The coffee grinder's grind consistency can be steplessly adjusted using a knob. If adjustment is desired, turn the knob a little at a time. To get a finer grind, you must first release the lock. If the Faustino coffee grinder is reasonably well-adjusted, only a small change is usually needed. To check when the coffee grinder is correctly set, you can grind coffee for an espresso and then brew it. Experiment until the espresso brews at an appropriate pace and time (25 milliliters in 25 seconds).
The Faustino 3.1 comes in 4 different finishes: black, chrome, chrome/copper, and chrome/white. The latter two have two dotted holes filled with matching color for the Rocket Espresso Appartamento.
